What affects your price
Long-distance pricing is built on weight or volume plus mileage, not hourly labor. The single largest driver is how much is going on the truck, which is why a walkthrough or a detailed inventory produces a far more accurate estimate than a phone guess.
Access at both ends comes next. A shuttle is needed when a full-size truck cannot reach the door, and stairs, elevators, and long carries are billed at origin and destination separately. Rural or remote destinations, and addresses with narrow streets or low clearances, generally cost more to service.
Packing is the third: full-service packing, custom crating for art or marble, and fragile-only packing each change the total. Beyond that, valuation coverage above the basic released rate, storage-in-transit if your closing dates do not line up, and delivery windows — a guaranteed or expedited date costs more than a standard spread.
Season matters as well. Summer is peak nationwide, and a fall or winter departure from Chicago usually books more easily.
Every move is quoted on its own details rather than a flat rate. Send us the specifics and we will price it against the drivers above.
