Veteran Partners

A veteran-owned company supporting the veteran community across Chicagoland.

Yellow Truck Moving was founded by a U.S. military veteran, and the values that built the company — discipline, integrity, accountability — are not a slogan on the side of the truck. They are the operating standard the crews are trained to. A move is a logistics problem with someone's whole life inside it, and the habits that make a military unit reliable are exactly the habits that make a moving crew reliable.

What veteran ownership means on the job

It means the truck is loaded and inventoried before it leaves the yard, not scavenged for pads on the morning of your move. It means a walkthrough and a plan before the ramp comes down: which pieces go first, where the protection goes, who is on the stairs and who is in the truck. It means the crew arrives in uniform, on time, briefed on your building's elevator window and certificate-of-insurance requirements.

It also means owning problems out loud. Something occasionally goes wrong on a move — a tight doorway, a delayed elevator, a piece that has to come apart. What separates a professional crew from a cheap one is what happens in the five minutes after, and whether you hear it from us before you notice it yourself.

Hiring and supporting veterans

Service members leave the military with skills that translate directly into this work: load planning, equipment discipline, working safely under time pressure, and clear communication with people who are stressed. We actively welcome veterans and transitioning service members onto our crews, and we make room for reserve and Guard obligations in the schedule rather than treating them as a scheduling problem.

Partnering with veteran organizations

We work alongside veteran-focused organizations in the Chicagoland area — groups supporting service members, veterans in transition, and military families dealing with a PCS, a relocation, or a housing change on short notice. Moving is often the most expensive and most stressful piece of those transitions, and it is the piece we can actually help with.

If your organization supports the veteran community and you would like to talk about a partnership, a referral relationship, or help with a specific family's move, we want to hear from you. We would rather build a handful of real working relationships than a page full of logos.
